Library Hotel, perfect location in NYC

Library Hotel, perfect location in NYC

NYC is one of my favourite spots to visit, I love the energy of the city … but, at the end of a long day, it is nice to come back to a relaxing and calming venue to get away from all the bright lights and reenergize myself.  That is where the Library Boutique Hotel comes in.

Understated luxury

The moment you step into the Library hotel, you are met with friendly smiles and rows of wonderful books; a luxurious relaxed atmosphere whose theme is centered around literature.

I arrived late at night and was tired from a long day of travelling. After getting my bags settled in my room, I headed up to the rooftop bar on the 14th floor to enjoy the complimentary drink that was offered.  It was very close to shutting down time for the bar, there were a few people around on the terrace,  (Bookmarks Lounge) as well as the Writer’s Den and the Poetry Garden.

After catching a few inspiring glimpses of the city views and exploring the terrace areas,  I sat down at the bar.  The staff was delightful, and even though they were getting ready to shut down… they were quite happy to chat and answer my questions. All of the staff had been here for several years and had nothing but great things to say about the Library hotels. ( You know when the staff stay around for years, it must be a pretty good place to work.)

I headed back to my room, delighting in all the names of the rooms on the floor as I passed them. They each had individual names according to the floor you were on, as in the same manner books in a library are organized according to Category ( according to Dewey decimal system).  I was on the Philosophy floor in the Ethics room.

Revitalizing sleep

After a very restful and revitalizing sleep, I headed down to the Reading room on the 2nd floor where the complimentary breakfast was being served.  They had an array of fresh fruits and pastries, as well as cereal. I headed straight for the lovely espresso machine, needing my morning coffee. Perfect start for the day, whether you are heading out to a business meeting or for a day of exploring. They also offer complimentary 24 hour beverages here, as well as a nightly wine and cheese from 5-8pm with a selection of Prosecco, fine wines, imported and domestic cheeses, fresh bread, crackers, and crudités.  Perfect for relaxing after a day out exploring, and for socializing and meeting some fellow travellers.

Perfect location

After breakfast I headed outside to start my day; the hotel is perfectly situated and within walking distance from major landmarks like Grand Central, the NYC Public Library and Times Square.  A big plus for me as I like to be able to walk to wherever my destination may be. Another small, but amazing touch are the umbrellas they have in each room for guests to use while they are there. So handy to have in case you forget yours and it happens to rain!

Away from the hustle and bustle

The Library Hotel was truly an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city outside.

I enjoyed the time I spent at the hotel, the staff went above and beyond and were always extremely friendly. I look forward to returning to this lovely slice of heaven in NYC.   Another note….when I was there my first evening sitting at the bar, a few of the guests were headed back to their rooms and as they went past, they were saying goodbye to the staff with whom they seem to be acquainted quite well. They were apparently quests who come to stay at the hotel regularly and are quite well known by the staff.

As I was checking out,  another couple came in to check into the hotel; from the conversation, the guests had been there several times before and were also well know by the staff.  I love staying in hotels where guests enjoy coming back to time and time again, and I can truly see why they would enjoy coming back to the Library Hotel.

  5. I’ve never heard of this hotel, but it sounds fantastic! Great amenities, and I think when hotels offer a complimentary drink and evening reception they really aim to give their guests a good impression and experience. I’m not a big city girl, but if I find myself in NYC, this will be on my list of places to stay.

    1. Exactly and it also gives them a very welcoming experience, and opportunity to get to know fellow travellers.
