Peace of Mind travel during last minute March Break holiday #CAASafeTravels

“Making Bad Days Good. And Good Days Better.”

Are you taking off for a last minute March Break holiday with the family? It will be upon us very soon and many of us will be getting away! While most of us will probably be escaping to warmer weather to get a short  respite from this very cold winter we have been having, others will likely explore some of the amazing ski runs in different parts of our country.  [I am definitely not in the latter group!]

Emergency medical expenses.

No matter where my family goes, we always make sure we have extra travel health insurance with us.

Provincial health plans don’t always cover out-of-Province  travel, so any time we travel outside of Ontario we make sure we have adequate coverage should anything happen. If you are taking that great ski trip during March break, you have to think of the possibility, and be prepared if someone happens to fall and break something. Making sure you are covered for any  emergency medical expense is important so that you do not have to pay out of pocket,  as it can get very costly when you are out of Province and are billed directly.

As stated on the OHIP website : “OHIP does not insure or pay for all out-of-country medical services. Also, the amount of funding provided by OHIP will not usually cover the full cost of any health services that you do obtain outside of Canada. You should therefore, obtain supplementary health insurance from a private insurance company to provide you with additional coverage during your absence.” “when travelling outside of Ontario but within Canada, the ministry recommends that you obtain private supplementary health insurance for non-physician/non-hospital services” .

Other perks

Health coverage is not the only reason to get travel insurance; it comes in handy for many other reasons as well. Depending on the coverage options you pick, you can get coverage should your flight get cancelled, or should you or one of the family members be unable to travel before the trip.  It is heartbreaking to lose all that money that you paid for the vacation if something should come up and you are unable to travel.

With the small cost of extra insurance, it is always better to be safe than sorry and have great family memories to look back on.

Peace of mind wherever we go.

For my family,  annual travel insurance coverage is a given.  Whether it is family travel, press trips, a business trip for my husband or my going to a conference out of province, we don’t have to worry about getting extra coverage [even for day trips across to the States] because it has been taken care of. This gives me added peace of mind and I can enjoy my vacation with my family! 🙂
