The days are now becoming darker earlier, and the evenings are cooling significantly…the leaves are also starting to turn.  That, in turn sets me to dreaming about and  planning a getaway from the oncoming cold and craziness of the holidays.

Planning my getaway.

My perfect holiday?  Spending it in a warm, beautiful paradise,  celebrating the festivities in an enriching way with the ones I love, instead of travelling back and forth between relative’s homes  and hoping that there is something that I am able to eat, without being glutened….  My reality…not always fun… 🙂

Puerto Vallarta offers all of the above and so much more for a holiday getaway!

getaway

With over 40 miles of wonderful beaches, amazing gastronomy, as well as an incredible cultural history,  Puerto Vallarta is a place that I have barely scratched the surface of…  I want to keep exploring and discovering all of its wonders!

I have always wanted to join in on The Day of the Dead Festivities, a little different than our Halloween celebrations; They have a week long celebration with art shows, parades and dances along with other festivities.  “La Caravana de la Muerte” Parade is something I am really looking forward to seeing.

Foodie Lovers paradise

Looking to getaway in November?  The 22nd annual Gourmet festival features World-class dining experiences with Guest chefs from the international gourmet scene participating They enrich this great celebration of food with their sensational art in contemporary cuisine. Puerto Vallarta’s gastronomy has something for every palate to experience and enjoy in its magical surroundings. You can’t help but be taken in by all the variety and tastes!

Celebrating the holidays away from home

Ever wanted to celebrate Christmas away from home?  Puerto Vallarta is filled with celebrations before and during La Navidad; there are processions throughout the streets to symbolize Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. People of all ages gather in El Centro on Christmas Eve at Our Lady of Guadalupe church with piñatas and colorful clothing to listen to music and partake in the exciting festivities that carry on into the night.

Ring in the New Year along the Malecon, with fireworks, dancing and music. Join in with the Puerto Vallarta locals as they celebrate New Year’s Eve by honoring the Catholic traditions of the Spaniards who came centuries ago. They do this by eating the 12 grapes of happiness, one grape every time the clock strikes at midnight.

There are so many great cultural activities that you can participate in to help you celebrate the holidays in a special way,  if you are planning a winter getaway.
