InterContinental Toronto Centre… great place to stay!

Late this past summer my daughter and I had a couple of events to attend in Toronto, so it was easier for us to plan on staying overnight in a hotel – we had some extra bonus points to use up so we thought we would splurge a little bit and try out the  4 Diamond Intercontinental Hotel on Front Street. It is conveniently located downtown and very quick access from the highway, so it was an easy hotel to get to if you’re driving into Toronto.

The expansive lobby of the hotel is elegant and sophisticated – from the modern furniture to the beautiful, vividly colored paintings throughout.

The front desk staff and concierge staff were all very attentive and very friendly; upon checking in, they noticed that I was using my points and I was upgraded to a different suite that also included wifi. We weren’t in the room 5 minutes when there was a knock at the door… to our surprise,  there was a lovely charcuterie tray as well as sparkling water and fruit delivered to our room that was complimentary of the hotel and hotel manager.

The room itself was lovely, we were on the 23rd floor, and it had an incredible view of the downtown and some of the rail yards. it was one of the newly renovated rooms and seemed a little bit larger and had a nice seating area as well from where you could take in this great view.

The newly renovated rooms were very nicely decorated in their new muted colors,  as well as being very clean and comfortable. The beds and the pillows were also very comfortable  – we both had a great sleep!  My daughter woke up saying it was one of the best nights of sleep she had in a while and that is saying a lot!

One of the things that I enjoyed about being at the InterContinental, was the proximity to the TTC  – we were able to hop onto the subway easily and worry free, and leave our car park parked at the hotel. Even though the Valet service offers in and out privileges, I find it much easier getting around Toronto Core via cab or subway. The hotel is also located very close to the CN Tower and  The Toronto Convention Center, as well as Union Station – great for anyone taking the train into the city! It is surrounded by many different restaurants as well as having their very own Azure restaurant. My daughter and I visited the Azure the next day, it was absolutely lovely. The chef is very talented and the food was spectacular. You can read my review of the Azure restaurant here

The hotel also boasts a spa and swimming pool as well as a gym area – unfortunately, due to time constraints, we didn’t get a chance to check out all the services. This would certainly be an area that I have to make time for next time I visit! Perfect for someone who needs  (or wants) some extra pampering! 🙂

The gym area is great if you still want to keep up with your fitness program while on vacation or staying for business, they have some great free weights as well as the bicycles and treadmills for you to use so you can still get your aerobic exercise in while away from home.

All in all, the hotel it is definitely worth the stay! Its location, the amenities, the restaurant and the staff; they will take good care of you.  It was really a pleasure dealing with all the staff–they were all extremely courteous, and helpful.

As I mentioned earlier, I found the rooms to be extremely clean and comfortable and beautifully decorated- I also heard very little noise in the room from the hallway, (something that can happen in quite a few hotels ) even though the hotel was quite busy during that time with different conferences.

I would not hesitate to stay here again, it was a great luxury stay!

  1. We had just booked this hotel for Feb and I was happy to read your great review. Thanks a lot. I have to eat gluten free so I will be checking out your posts.

    1. You will love it there and the restaurant as well. They are so accommodating! And as I mentioned in my post re restaurant review- they were very knowledgeable about cross contamination etc. which made me feel so much more secure. 🙂 Enjoy your stay and try to get into the spa- it is lovely! 🙂

  2. Great review. We’re looking for a place to stay in a few weeks. I also need to stay gluten free. Very important for me is also that it’s quiet. You’ve covered everything we look for on our staycation 😉

    1. Really enjoyed our stay there. Yes, I was amazed at how quiet our room was considering how busy they were at the time. Just make sure to let the staff know about your dietary needs. They are great, and the food is amazing – you will definitely enjoy!

  3. That looks like a really good place to stay. I like the pool and that the gym has more than one piece of equipment in it. I don’t stay in hotels often, so when I do I like to stay someplace really nice!

  4. Looks like a nice place to stay at, will have to remember it for the next time we go to Toronto.
