A Gelato A Day…. Family Travel Stories That Will Inspire You!

A Gelato A Day

Last week  I attended a virtual reading with some of the authors that contributed to A Gelato A Day,  Claudia Laroye’s anthology of family travel stories. Hearing the voices behind the stories as they were being read aloud, added so much more to the memories that were shared.

A Gelato A Day is a great collection of curated family travel stories that will inspire you to make lasting memories with your own families. It shows that traveling as a family isn’t always easy… but traveling as a family, and experiencing all that it has to offer is wonderful.

Memories

Whether you’re a family that travels together now, in the past, or if you’re a family that wants to travel together, A Gelato A Day is a captivating collection of stories from authors that share those wonderful journeys; the good, the bad, and the not so bad. It can also transport us back to our own wonderful, exciting memories, times that helped to expand our lives in ways that some of us hadn’t even really realized (especially at the time).

The Reality

The reality is…not all travel is perfect, and not all travel has to be perfect. It’s more about experiencing and exploring with family, and learning through that. And that’s what these stories do…they talk about shared learning, and the connections that were made. Travel brings us closer together in so many ways, it creates bonds and memories like nothing else.

Many of these stories actually took me back to when I first traveled with my family when I was a child. But it also took me back to wonderful times traveling with my husband and daughter, in the years that followed. Traveling with my family has always been very special; I have some incredible memories, but, there were some not so great moments too. In the end, nothing can replace those experiences. Traveling with family is a gift, and we should all embrace that, these stories remind us of that fact.

Resilience, and dealing with the many things that can happen along the way is another reward that comes from family travel. As Claudia says “ At its core, traveling with family is a case of planning for the best, and preparing for the worst. No matter how far away the destination or how long the journey, the keys to family travel success lie in planning and preparation. Liberally sprinkled with large doses of patience, resilience, and a sense of humor when and if it all goes to hell.” And at times, it takes a little bit of bribery … hence the title for the book.

A Gelato A Day is definitely a book worth gifting to anyone who wants to start, or has already started traveling as a family… or as a wonderful addition to your own library!
