*Disclosure: I am participating in a sponsored campaign hosted by Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board and I received compensation for this post, however, all opinions expressed are my own.

Food and travel go hand in hand for me… I love both! When I travel I love discovering new foods and trying things that I normally wouldn’t try if I were home. Traveling to a city or country whose food is naturally gluten free makes things much easier for me so I can try more of the local cuisine. Puerto Vallarta is one of those places… it is a food lover’s paradise!  I love Puerto Vallarta, everything about it is magical… the food, the people, the  beaches, the Malecon – I could go on for ever!

Puerto Vallarta’s gastronomy appeals to a wide range of culinary tastes. From family-run taco stands and sidewalk cafes to award winning restaurants, there is something for every palate to experience and enjoy in its magical surroundings. You can’t help but be taken in by all the variety and tastes!

The natural beauty of Puerto Vallarta is a source of inspiration for chefs from Mexico and around the world who create an exciting amalgam of flavours that blend traditional Mexican ingredients with contemporary tastes from around the globe. It was listed in “Top 10 Destinations in Mexico” by TripAdvisor in 2015, as well as “Most Romantic Place in Mexico” and “Favorite Beach Destination in Mexico” by About.com in 2012. Puerto Vallarta is truly a world class tourist destination, named “Friendliest City” by Conde Nast in 2001, and 27 by Travel + Leisure in 2015.

On my last travels to Puerto Vallarta, I tried Octopus… something I never thought I would try but it was incredibly delicious and nothing like I imagined it would be!  Be warned: the colours and flavours of Puerto Vallarta’s cuisine create an indelible impression on the senses leaving lasting memories; it is hard not to try something new when travelling there!

Puerto Vallarta has many events that celebrate their cuisine -the 20th edition of the International Gourmet Festival runs from November 16-22, and will feature the talent of over 30 world renowned Chefs representing National and European restaurants from all over the world to create delicacies for every palate.

With chef tastings, culinary safaris, sensorial tastings and themed nights offering distinct dishes from cities from around the world, who wouldn’t want to experience this?  I would love to attend any of their amazing events during the festival and meet master chefs and taste their delicious offerings!  Love seafood?  Can you imagine spending an afternoon tasting a delicious potpourri of seafood?  Or a wonderful Tequila tasting with artisanal cheeses? I would be in heaven! 🙂

  1. Puerto Vallarta is definitely a foodie’s dream destination. I was as equally impressed by the street vendors’ offerings & food in the tiny cafes as I was in the 5-star restaurants. Definitely different, but both excellent!

  2. Frustrating that so many of these great contests are only open the US and Canadian residents! I’d LOVE to go to Puerto Vallarta!
