If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I enjoy my smoothies and love having a smoothie most mornings to start off the day. They are one of the quickest and easiest ways to get all your nutritional needs met depending on what you put in your smoothies; they can definitely be a power packed meal on the go.
There are so many great things you can add into your smoothies, but if you follow a specific smoothie recipe like this one here and you have all the ingredients – mixing it up can be fun! I like using coconut and almond milk for my liquid base but you can use other milks as well. I also like to use frozen fruit for my fruit base- it helps to add a bit of thickness and I always have frozen fruit on hand! 🙂 And of course… chocolate [cacao] is a must for me.
I received this lovely Hamilton Beach Wave Station express dispensing blender to try out with my smoothies this week, and I love it! The wave action makes sure everything is mixed really well together as it is constantly pulling the items down [as in a wave motion] for smooth results every time– [see the video] so you don’t get chunks of ice or fruit that have not been blended.
Love that is makes blending a breeze and I don’t have to stop to stir things up. The other thing I like about this is the capacity -a 48 oz dishwasher safe DuraBlend jar- it can make up to 4 good size [large] smoothie servings. What makes it a really fun blender to have around for an afternoon BBQ is the dispensing feature – great when mixing up daiquiris etc, so guests can help themselves and is less of a mess. 🙂
They also come in some fun colors…mine is red – one of my fave colors!
Here is one of my favourite smoothie mixtures that I had to try out in my new blender:
Chocolate, raspberry and banana smoothie
- 1 banana – broken in quarters
- 1 cup [frozen] raspberries
- 1 ½ – 2 cups almond or coconut milk (depending on how thick you make it)
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 tablespoon flax meal
Optional ( can add in ½ cup of yogurt – which I do if making for my daughter
or ¼ cup of sesame seeds – [I add for me].
Blend everything together until smooth – frozen fruit may need a bit more. Serve in tall glasses and garnish with extra pieces of fruit if you wish. Enjoy!
Now as a special treat, one lucky reader is going to win one of these great blenders from Hamilton Beach so you can make your own amazing smoothie and blended drinks. How cool is that?
