Passion and Purpose ~ #MoreBizWomen Twitter Chat with @StaplesCanada

As International Women’s Day approaches, I think of all the women who have paved our way with their passion and purpose.  There are so  many inspiring women who have led their lives to make positive changes for us… Malala, Mother Theresa, Florence Nightingale, Amelia Earhart and so many more.  But we don’t have to be inspiring figures affecting change in the world in order to make changes to our own lives and live with passion and purpose.

Finding your passion and purpose

Something to consider when finding your passionate purpose: what are you really passionate about?  Pay attention to things that make you feel good, lead with your heart not your head.

Find things that will help you fuel your passion. Mine is travel… I try to immerse myself in finding ways that I can fulfill my passion. – whether it be writing, reading researching or talking about it even when I cannot travel.

Follow your passion daily and make it your purpose, don’t be afraid to go after what you want in life and fully embrace it.  

Be good to yourself

Make sure that you take care of yourself along the way so that you can continue to fuel your life with your passion and purpose.  Take time to reenergize, time to meditate and relax. We all live in such a busy, stressful world we don’t always take the time to do this, and that can make us feel so overwhelmed and frustrated at times that we neglect our passion and end up burning out.

Daily exercise, yoga, healthy diet, and sleep all help to keep you balanced and ready to deal with occasional setbacks, and help reenergize you along the way so you can continue to nurture your passion.

I would be devastated if I was unable to travel as planned because I was not healthy enough to travel, or even experience some of the activities planned along the way because I did not have the strength or endurance to participate.  So I have made it a priority this year, I have started working with a personal trainer, and make sure that I take a few minutes daily to exercise or stretch it out  even if for a brief time, no matter how busy the day gets… and I am seeing my chiropractor regularly and keeping my back healthy after an injury this year. It is important to take the time, and I am seeing the benefits.

Collaborate and nurture relationships with others that share your passion

Finding others that share your passion helps fuel yours. Create connections in communities that matter to you, that are connected to your passion. Share ideas and ask for help when you need it.  I have been lucky to find some incredible people to share my passion with, and learn  from them as well as collaborate with them from time to time. Helping others and supporting them helps you as well, so never be afraid to help whenever you can, we are much stronger together.
